Three weeks, in short takes

Week 3: the basil overtook the mint.

Dinner: cut what you need, leave the rest growing.

Time-lapse

Sprout to snip.

One basil plant under the full-spectrum panel, compressed into a few seconds. No soil, no daily watering — just light, water and nutrients.

The problem

Store-bought basil is designed to die.

It is grown fast, cut from its roots, and sold to be used within the week. Nine days later it is in the bin, and you buy it again.

Light

Sixty-eight LEDs, tuned to the plant.

1,100 lumens of full-spectrum light carries a plant from seedling to harvest — and reads as a warm lamp in the room, not lab equipment on the counter.

Water

No soil. No daily watering.

Roots sit in a hydroponic reservoir. The solid nutrient solution is in the box; you top the water up when it runs low, and that is the whole routine.

About

Designed in Europe

Gardenia is a European brand. It started with a simple frustration: everything made for growing food indoors looked like it belonged in a lab. So we drew a planter that earns its place on the shelf — warm materials, quiet light, and a ritual worth keeping.

Questions, answered

What's in the box?

The Gardenia GrowPod 1.0 hydroponic grow pod, solid nutrient solution, grow pouches, a 12 V power adapter and the manual. Nothing else to buy to get started.

What can I grow in it?

Herbs and small vegetables: basil, mint, lettuce, arugula, thyme, chillies, mini tomatoes, oregano, chives, dill and parsley. The included grow pouches and nutrient solution cover the first planting.

How much power does it use?

The light array draws 20 watts at 12 V — in the range of a small LED lamp. What it costs to run depends on your electricity tariff and how long the light runs each day, so we'd rather you do that sum with your own numbers than quote you ours.

How bright is it to live with?

68 LEDs give 1,100 lumens of full-spectrum light — enough for a plant, soft enough to sit beside. It reads as a warm lamp rather than a work light. Place it where it lights the plant rather than the whole room, and remember it is rated IP42: dust and light-splash protected, indoor use, not waterproof.

Do you ship to Austria and Germany?

Yes — tracked shipping to both, with a 12 V adapter for EU sockets in the box. Current delivery times and rates are in the shipping policy.

What if I change my mind, or something fails?

You have the EU 14-day right of withdrawal from the day the GrowPod is delivered, and the 2-year statutory warranty applies. Write to us and we'll sort it out — the details are in the returns policy.
