Fresh herbs shouldn't require a garden — or a gadget that looks like it escaped from a laboratory. The GrowPod 1.0™ is a hydroponic planter and a full-spectrum grow light in a single, considered object: designed like furniture, lit like a still life.

Engineered for growth

Sixty-eight LED beads cast 1,100 lumens of warm, plant-tuned light — the spectrum a plant needs from seedling through harvest, in a light that reads as a lamp in the room rather than equipment on the counter.

A cleaner ritual

Roots grow directly in nutrient-rich water. No soil, no repotting, no daily watering — the solid nutrient solution and grow pouches are in the box. Top up the reservoir when it runs low, and the GrowPod takes care of the rest.

Quietly efficient

Housed in aluminium alloy, the GrowPod draws just 20 watts — less than most reading lamps — so it can run its daily light cycle without making itself felt on your energy bill.

What you can grow

Basil, mint, lettuce, arugula, thyme, chillies, mini tomatoes, oregano, chives, dill and parsley — among others. Anything that sprouts from a grow pouch will grow under the panel.

Indoor use only. The GrowPod is rated IP42: protected against dust and light water splashes, but not waterproof. Keep the light unit and power connection away from standing water.

From our growers

Six weeks in

Gave one to my sister and ended up buying a second for myself. The refill pouches last ages.

The arugula is the surprise. Cut it, three days later there is more. Have not bought a bag of salad since November.

Hannah Moser
Klagenfurt — verified purchase, December 2025

Set it up on a Sunday, seeds were through by the following Friday. The water window is a small thing but it means I actually remember to top it up.

Growers often add these

Refills for when the first crop is done — the pouches your plants root in, and the feed that goes in the water.

The ritual

Three steps, minutes a week

  1. Plant

Drop the included grow pouches into the pod and add the solid nutrient solution to the water.

  2. Top up

The full-spectrum light runs its daily cycle on its own. You just refill the reservoir when it runs low.

  3. Harvest

Snip what you need for dinner and let the plant keep producing — from basil to mini tomatoes.

Third winter of dead supermarket basil and I finally gave up and bought this. Six weeks in and I have cut from it maybe fifteen times. The light is warm, not that blue hospital colour I expected.

It looks like a lamp. That was the whole reason I chose it over the plastic ones — it sits on the counter and nobody asks what it is.

Works well and the basil is genuinely better than shop bought. Parsley took nearly three weeks to come up though, so be patient with the slower herbs.

Bought it for the mint for tea and now the whole thing is full. Mint takes over, plant it in its own pouch away from the rest.

Quiet, no fan, no app, no notifications. Fill it, plug it in, cut herbs. Exactly what I wanted.

Our flat faces a courtyard so nothing grows on the sill from October. This solved that completely.

Very happy overall. Would like the light to go a little higher for taller plants, the tomatoes reached it eventually.

Cheaper to run than I assumed. Twenty watts for fifteen hours is nothing on the bill and the herbs replace what I was buying weekly.

Good product, clear instructions. Algae appeared on the water at week five until I covered the empty pods as the guide says. No trouble since.

Questions, answered

Do I need any gardening experience?

No. The GrowPod handles light and water; you plant, top up the reservoir when it runs low, and harvest. The quick-start guide covers everything else.

Which plants can I grow?

Herbs and small vegetables thrive in the GrowPod: basil, parsley, oregano, chives, dill, thyme, mint, arugula, lettuce, chillies, mini tomatoes — and much more. Grow pouches and solid nutrient solution are included to get you started.

How much does it cost to run?

The light array draws 20 watts at 12 V — in the range of a small LED lamp. What that costs depends on your electricity tariff and how long the light runs each day, so we would rather you do that sum with your own numbers than quote you ours.

How bright is it to live with?

68 LEDs give 1,100 lumens of full-spectrum light — enough for a plant, soft enough to sit beside. It reads as a warm lamp rather than a work light. Place it where it lights the plant rather than the whole room.

Is the GrowPod waterproof?

No. It carries an IP42 rating — protected against dust and light water splashes only. Keep the light unit and power connection away from standing water and use it indoors.

What if it arrives damaged, or I change my mind?
