The rooting plug the GrowPod grows in. Each pouch is a tapered block pressed from charcoal mud — a carbon-rich growing medium — with a planting hole in the top. The seed goes in the hole, the pouch sits in the pod collar, and the roots run straight down into the water below.
Why a pouch and not soil
Charcoal mud holds moisture without compacting, keeps its shape when wet, and lets roots through cleanly. Soil would simply break apart in a reservoir and cloud the water.
Using them
One pouch per pod. Sit it in the collar, add a seed, keep the reservoir topped up, and start a fresh pouch whenever you plant something new.

Good to know
How many do I need?
One pouch per pod, replaced when you sow something new. A 50-pack covers a long time in a single GrowPod — most growers replant a pod every few weeks rather than all of them at once.
Will they fit my system?
They fit the Gardenia GrowPod 1.0 and other standard hydroponic pod collars. If you are unsure, measure your collar opening and write to us.
